I’m taking a short break from my ripple blanket this chilly autumn day to work a little on a very long neglected project. The ABC daisy chain sampler. I purchased this pattern from Alicia Paulson www.rosylittlethings.com nearly a year ago, she now also has a winter woods cross stitch kit available which I recently purchased (of course I did) but haven’t started on (of course I haven’t) there are so many lovely projects yet to be started/completed here. I’m terribly excited, it’s kinda sad lol. What can I say? I love my craft.

Making great progress on the ripple blanket. It’s already keeping me warm while I continue to work on it. I’m now over the half way mark yippee!!

This is gorgeous. Pure simplicity.

The beginning of a granny square blanket.
This is a picture I took with my iPhone last month when I first started the project. Since then I have made very few more squares, I plan on finishing it but I got distracted with the ripple blanket. I’ve decided once I finish my ripple blanket (hopefully soon) I will go back to working on this. These squares are so much fun to work on. Puffy crochet flowers are just awesome. I am using 100% merino wool for this blanket which I bought from here. The finished piece will not be as large as the ripple. It’s going to be more like a lap blanket, to keep me warm on the sofa while I busily work on more woolly projects.

Housewife Ramblings
Housewife Ramblings #1: Seriously think our clothes are secretly breeding at night in the wash basket. It’s only been two days damn it! and oh aren’t socks meant to disappear in the wash? mine seem to multiply?????

What do I love most about the cooler months? getting my yarn on of course! now that the nights are chillier, I swap my iced lemonade for a nice hot cuppa tea, slip on some warm bed socks, make myself comfy on the lounge once the little ones have been put to bed and I get all crafty with my yarn. I’m kicking off this Autumn season with a new ripple blanket. I am adoring the randomness of this blanket. There is no colour order. I just simply pick up a random colour from my stash and just ripple along. The thing with the ripple is that it can be a very soothing pattern. (says I, who once cursed till blue in the face on the first attempt. But all good now, and it really and truly is very soothing once you get the hang of it).
I hope to finish this over the next couple of weeks. It is for our queen sized bed. I am nearly half way there. Just seeing it all draped up on the sofa is making me all giddy. Must finish this asap. I have many more yarny yarn yarn projects lined up and I can’t wait to share them.
